Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled CRD, previously called the Polio Home, is a charitable institution run by the Charitable Society of the South Kerala Diocese. Started in 1974, the Centre aims at providing total rehabilitation for children with cerebral palsy and polio.
CRD runs a school, computer training centre and physio-therapy department to specifically cater to the special requirements of these physically and mentally challenged children. The ortho-splint workshop at the CRD helps the children build up their mobility. The institution has a good library with almost fifteen thousand books, also open to the children of the locality. The wheelchair borne band is an unique attempt at boosting the self-esteem of the children at CRD.
