Central Agricultural University, a Central University, has its headquarters at
Imphal. This university imparts education in different branches of agricultural and allied sciences.
It offers BSc degree in agriculture and MSc degree in the branches of agronomy, plant pathology, horticulture, plant breeding and genetics, soil science and agricultural chemistry and entomology. There are about six colleges under this university.
The university follows the semester system and session starts from August every year. Separate seats are allotted for the northeastern states in the university.
College of Agriculture at Imphal, Manipur; College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences at Aizawl, Mizoram; College of Fisheries at Lambuchera, Tripura; College of Horticulture and Forestry at Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh; College of Agricultural Engineering and Post Harvest Technology at Sikkim; College of Home Science at Tura in Meghalaya are the affiliated colleges.
