Cassimbazaar




Cassimbazaar is a famous town located north-east of Berhampur in Murshidabad District. During the 17th and 18th centuries, it was a famous trade center. Main attraction is the palace of Maharaja Manindrachandra Nandy. It is a beautiful palace with 100 pillars. Terracotta art is used to decorate the walls and all pillars have lotus designs. There are 24 Jain temples, commemorating all the 24 Tirthankars of Jain religion, located in the courtyard of the palace. Cassimbazaar also houses ten Shiva temples and Katra Masjid. Krishnanath College, built in the style of England's Oxford University is another attraction.
