Byas Fair takes place near the village of Byas in
Himachal Pradesh. It is celebrated five days before
holi, in the month of Chaitra (March - April).
Wrestling matches form an important feature of the fair. About two thousand people attend the fair, coming from far and near to make their votive offerings to Shiva. Byas fair is associated with a legend of Byas rishi, who had practiced penance in that village.
