Bura-Chapori Wildlife Sanctuary

Burachapori Wildlife Sanctuary



Situated on the north bank of the Brahmaputra River is the Bura-Chapori Wildlife Sanctuary in Sonitpur District.

It is considered to be an ideal locale for the Bengal Florican. Numerous species of migratory birds are also seen. Other attractions are the Great Indian one horned rhinoceros, Asiatic buffalo, wild boar, otter, civet cat, leopard cat and barking deer. Various reptiles and fish are also found.

November to March is ideal to visit the sanctuary.

Major town nearby is Tezpur. The nearest railway station is Rangapara North Railway Station.
