Broad Peak is one of the major peaks of the
Karakoram Ranges. It is located about 8 km from
K2 along the
Baltoro Glacier and has a height of about 8,047 m. Broad Peak is the twelfth highest mountain in the world. Climbers and trekkers can also visit nearby mountains such as the
Gasherbrums, the Trangos, K2, and Chogolisa. It was originally known as K3, the third mountain measured in the Karakoram Range. Since it was found that the summit of this mountain was over a mile long, the mountain came to be known as Broad Peak.
The best time for climbing this peak is from June to August.
