Brita Dance

Vrita Dance

Brita, also known as Vrita Dance, is a traditional folk dance of West Bengal. It is performed in the rural areas by the women folk. This dance is held in the premise of a temple to appease the deity and invoke the lord’s blessing.

According to common belief, a woman performing the Brita Dance will have her wishes fulfilled by the god. It is also held after a recovery from the infectious diseases (like small pox).
