Bringesha Samhita is an ancient text written by Sage Bringesh, a highly revered sage of the ancient times. He lived in the southern parts of
Kashmir. This text contains a detailed description of all the major places of pilgrimage in the region. Each of the pilgrimage sites is described in full details with its associated legends. Apart from mythology, the text contains the spiritual and religious aspects of the pilgrim spots.
Bringesha Samhita currently does not exist in its complete form. Over the years, many chapters of the text had been destroyed or lost. Some parts of the manuscripts have been preserved by the region’s
Brahmin community. Efforts are on to trace the parts of the ancient text, which are in possession among the members of the community.
