Brindabanchandra Temple




Built in the later 19th century, Temple of Brindabanchandra is famous as the temple of Bir Tikendrajit. It was constructed more as a fort. Brindabanchandra, the family deity of Bir Tikendrajit, used to be worshipped here. The temple is situated at the north-western part of the Kangla Fort Complex. There is a tunnel inside the temple. It has been declared as a protected monument under the Manipur Ancient and Historical Monument and Archeological Sites and Remains Act, 1976.

Kangla Fort is situated in the heart of Imphal. The nearest railhead is Dimapur, 215 km. It is connected by road with Guwahati through National Highway 53.
