Brhaddhvani is a non-profit organization at R A Puram in
Chennai. Started in 1989, this organization offers research and training in
Carnatic Classical Music.
Positive aspects of traditional Gurukulam style learning (learning through living, traveling and associating oneself with the Guru), along with modern music education are included in the professional training program. There is a music education program for schoolchildren, named Brhad Poornam. Hindustani, folk, western classical, jazz and advanced Carnatic classical music are also trained here.
The facilities include professional recording studio, print library, centralized audio system, study room, open-air theater, gallery space for exhibitions and a second center for meetings, classes and seminars. The organization has a catalogued and computerized collection of recordings. Festivals, performances, informational workshops, exhibitions and seminars are conducted.
