Gurupadar was born on December 23, 1900, in Uliyazhathura village near
Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of
Kerala. Even as a child Gurupadar used to recite Rama
mantra and
Thunchath Ramanujan Ezhuthachan's Adhyatma Ramayana. He established a hermitage by name Swamiyarmadom. Though uneducated in the ordinary sense of the term, he was able to correct the wrong or incorrect recitation of the
Vedas and
Upanishads. He had the divine power of premonition (knowing everything in advance), clairvoyance (power to perceive things that are not present to the senses), vanishing (disappearing from the eyes of others while being present amongst them) and incarnation (assuming the form of any living being.) He led a simple life. Gurupadar recieved in his ashram everyone without the distinction of community, class, creed or religion. He founded Sree Rama Dasa Madom on July 4, 1962.
