Boudh is the headquarters.
The Mahanadi and its tributaries flow through Boudh and render the plains fertile, contributing to the agrarian economy of the region. Paddy is widely cultivated.
Boudh has a full fledged mining and textile industry, the river bed of Mahanadi being a rich source of diamonds and other valuable gemstones. It is also famous for time-old aesthetically built temples, caves, and statues. Charichhak (Puruna Katak), Padmatala, and Charisambhu Temple are some of the places of tourist interest.
