Bou Nachi, a traditional dance of
Assam, is a means by which a bride proves her artistic skills in front of her in-laws. This dance facilitates the bride’s acceptance into her new family. The music is provided by flute, cymbals and a traditional drum called Dhol. The accompanying songs are sung by a group of women sitting around the dancing bride. These songs are usually the traditional wedding songs.
Bou Nachi is now a very rarely seen dance form.
