Bongaon




Bongaon is a village situated at a distance of 57 km, west of Guwahati. It is bounded by Goroimari in the north, Meghalaya in the south, Chaygaon in the east, and Boko in the west. The total area of Bongaon is 91 sq km comprising both plain and hilly areas. Kalahi and Kharkhari are the main rivers of the village. The main sources of income of the villagers are cultivation, cane and bamboo works, fishing, and weaving. Road transport is the main mode of communication used by the villagers. National Highway 37 crossing through the middle of the village connects the village with the rest of the State.
