Biswanath Ghat, one among the oldest landmarks of
Assam, is situated near
Biswanath Chariali in
Sonitpur District. This sacred place is well mentioned in the 9th century Kalika Purana as a place where
Lord Vishnu killed the demon Haya-Griva. Nearby lies Biswanath Temple popularly known as Gupta Kashi. Considering the holiness of this place, people come here in large number from far and near places.
