Bhogali Bihu is an Assamese festival celebrated during the harvest in mid-January on the last day of the month of Poush and the first day of Magh. During this day temporary shelters are constructed in the open air by the young men. A non vegetarian feast is held at night. The pavilions are set on fire to indicate that the festival has started.
The young men of the whole village gather at this place and variety of cakes are served. The bullfights and bird fights are the highlights of the festival. This is followed by a lot of singing and dancing.
