Bhawanipur

Bhawanipur is situated on the eastern part of Bihar. It is a small settlement in Katihar District. Bhawanipur is around 20 km south of Katihar, the district headquarters. Located on the banks of the Ganges River, the town is prone to flooding during monsoon. Major tourist destination around the town include Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary, Mandar Hill and Patharghat Hill. Nearest airport is at Patna, about 176 km west. Katihar Junction Railway Station, the nearest railhead, is on Araria- Kumedpur railway line.
