Bhartiya Sanscruti Darshan is an excellent museum situated at
Bhuj, in
Kutch District of
Gujarat. It was founded by Mr Ramsinhji K Rathod, a scholar of the folk art of Kutch. The museum, which has around 4500 exhibits, is an ideal example of the rustic life styles of the Kutchi villager. The museum houses over 1500 rare books on art and culture.
Bhartiya Sanscruti Darshan has five major sections. Sahitya Chitra, the Ethnological section of the museum, houses some of the rare works of literature. Leather embroidery, wood work, wood carvings, terra cotta, wall paintings, bead work, stone carvings, musical instruments, knives and swords and silver work are showcased in the other sections of the museum. An intricately designed ‘Kothala’ (the treasury) displayed in the museum is an eye-catching one.
