Bharat Lila is a colorful folk dance native to
Ganjam District of
Orissa. It is based on an episode called Subhadra Parinaya (marriage of
Subhadra), which is borrowed from the great epic
Mahabharata.
In this dance Lord Krishna is portrayed as a mediator between Subhadra and Arjun, her lover. The story slowly progresses to a positive end with their marriage.
