Bhai Satta

Bhai Satta was a popular Muslim minstrel, who performed in the court of Guru Arjan Dev. He was accompanied by his brother Bhai Balwand in his musical performances. He used to play at the Rabab while singing. A ballad composed jointly by him and his brother has been included in the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy book of Sikhism.

Bhai Satta belonged to a family of minstrels. His grandfather, Bhai Mardana, used to perform for Guru Nanak. Bhai Satta also performed for Guru Hargobind, the successor of Guru Arjan Dev.
