Bhagoriya is a popular dance of the
Bhil tribe of
Madhya Pradesh. The dance is associated with a festival known as `Bhagoria' and a fair called Bhagoriya Haat. During the performance young men and women choose their life partners. They wear colorful costumes during the performance. As per the tradition, the boy applies Gulal or red powder on the girl’s face to whom he intends to marry. If the girl is willing to marry the boy, she too applies Gulal on the face of the boy.
