Bhadrawahi is a primitive tribal community settled predominantly in the state of
Jammu and Kashmir. They speak a language known as 'Bhadrawahi'. Though the language is a member of
Indo-Aryan language family, it has no script.
Bhadrawahis are simple and open-hearted with a good sense of humor. They are also known for their valor and culture. The main source of income comes from agriculture. Endogamous (marriage only within the caste) marriage system is permitted.
Virtually all of the Bhadrawahis are Hindus. They worship Lord Brahma, Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Shakti. Bhadrawahis celebrate many festivals and fairs, most of which are associated with religious events. Their social life is also reflected in these festivals.
