Bhadravathi




An industrial town, Bhadravathi is situated on the edge of Baba Budan hills. The town was formerly known as ‘Benkipura.’ Shimoga is 19 km north of Bhadravathi.

Rich in iron-ore, Bhadravathi houses the Mysore Iron and Steel Ltd. A cement and a paper factory is also located here. Coffee cultivation is a major agricultural activity.

The main attraction of the town is the 13th century Lakshminarayan Temple in Hoysala style.

Bhadravati Railway Station is on the Shimoga- Birur line. National Highway 48 connecting Bangalore to Mangalore passes through Bhadravathi and the city of Bangalore is 256 km, away. The National Highway 4 connecting Bangalore to Chennai also passes through Bhadravathi.
