Bavalia is one of the simplest forms of embroidery found in
Gujarat. It is also known by the name ‘Kutch Bharat’ in the
Saurashtra region and the northern parts of the state. Another commonly used name is ‘sada taka.’
The designs in Bavalia embroidery are geometrical in nature. Mirrors are used for an enhanced effect. They are fixed on the cloth using cross stitch or button-hole stitch.
