Batalik, a small settlement in
Kargil District, is about 180 km away from
Srinagar – the state capital of
Jammu and Kashmir. It lies to the south-east of
Kargil near the LoC and is at an altitude of 9,035 ft above sea level.
Grugurdo and Sachik are about one km apart from Batalik in the northern and southern directions respectively. Chulichang is about four kilometers west. Batalik is an ideal base camp for trekking. Lalung Glacier is within a short distance from here.
Batalikcan be easily approached from Kargil as it is on the Kargil – Leh highway.
