Basheshwar Mahadev Temple of
Bajaura is one of the finest monuments of western
Himalayas and is an example of late Gupta tradition. Built in the mid 8th century, the pyramid stone temple is famous for its ornate carvings and the figures portrayed on the outer walls and entrance. Carved pictures of
Ganges and
Yamuna and statues of
Ganesh,
Vishnu, and
Durga are kept in the temple. The temple is situated on a plain between the main road and the
Beas river.
Bajaura is situated on National Highway 21 in Kullu District, Himachal Pradesh.
