Barkatha is located in
Hazaribagh District of
Jharkhand and is on the banks of river Barsoti. It is around 35 km north-east of
Hazaribagh.
Barkatha is noted for two hot water springs and a cold-water spring. Of which Suraj Kund Hot Spring is noted for its temperature, which is about 87 degree celsius. Other interests are Ram Kund, Sita Kund, Laxman Kund and Brambh Kund. A big fair is conducted here every year. Ichak is 22 km south-west.
Ranchi, the state capital, is around 97 km south. Parsabad Railway Station is the nearest railhead and Ranchi Airport is the closest airport. Barkatha is on National Highway 2 between Bagodar and Barhi.
