Barka Kana is a taluk headquarters town located in Hazaribagh District of Jharkhand. It is on Daltonganj-Ranchi rail route and is about 39 km away from Ranchi, the state capital. Barka Kana is close to the Hazaribagh-Ranchi border. The nearest town is Ramgarh, about 4 km to the east. About 15 km south is Ormanjhi, which is famous for the Jaivik Udyan Zoological Park. Patratu Thermal Power Plant is another nearby landmark.
