Banur




Situated on the banks of Sukhna Nadi, Banur is an ancient town in Patiala District of Punjab. It is on the Rajpura-Chandigarh Road, about 15 km from Rajpura.

During the Mughal Period, Banur was known as Pushpa or Popa Nagri or Pushpawati - the city of flowers. This place was famous for the scent of chambeli flowers grown in its numerous gardens and also for some well-known musicians.

In and around the town there numerous points of attractions which includes the ruins of an old imperial fort, popularly known as Zulmgarh, the tomb of Malik Suleman, the citadel of tyranny and fort of Banda Ali Beg.

Rajpura Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead. The nearest airport is Ludhiana Airport.
