Born in 1894, Banikanta Kakoti was a famous literary person and an educationist. He wrote a number of articles and essays in the
Assamese and English languages. His famous works include Purani Asomiya Sahitya, Mother Goddess Kamakhya, Life and Teachings of Sankardeva, Sahitya Aru Prem, and Purani Kamrupot Dhrarmar Dhara. Banikanta Kakoti died in 1952.
