Bangady, also known as Banagavady, is a scenic and tranquil village located about 12 km north of

Dakshina Kannada District. It was once the capital of Banga Chiefs who were the subordinators to the governors of Mangalur – Rajya and also a seat of Moola chiefs. From here one can have a panoramic view of the Kudremukha hill range and the Nada or Jamalbad Fort. Another significant thing in the village is the temple of Somanteswara to whom the Bangas were devotees.
