Baneswarnasi

A picturesque hillock on the bed of the river Mahanadi, Baneswarnasi is famous for archeological remains. Remains of stupas, sculptures, shivlings and other images, belonging to the 8th century, scattered around the hillock reveals that this was once a most important Buddhist establishment in medieval Orissa. The different Tara images found here reveals the existence of plastic art in Orissa. The images unearthed from this place have been shifted to the Orissa State Museum, Bhubaneswar and the Patna Museum, Bihar for preservation and display. Baneswarnasi is in Champeswar near Narasingapur. Champeswar is a village situated on the section of the road connecting Badamba and Narasinghapur.
