Balugaon is a small town lying, bordering the
Chilika Lake, in
Khordha District,
Orissa. Owing to its export trade in fish supplied by the Chilika Lake, the town has become a major trade center in the district. From here ferry services are available to cross the lake and other places nearby. The Kalijai Hill, half merged under the water, is close to the ferry route. On top of the hill is a temple dedicated to Goddess Kalijai, built by ex-Raja of Parikud.
Barakul situated just five km from here is another tourist spot located nearby.
National Highway No 5 has its route through Balugaon. The town has a railway station served by the South Eastern Railways.
