Ballal Dhipi is an archeological site located near Bamanpukur Bazaar, on way to
Mayapur, in
Nadia District,
West Bengal. It is about 25 km from
Krishnanagar.
The excavations done here had unearthed a unique structural complex covering about 13,000 square meters. The complex centers around a 9 m high mound (Dhipi). This complex identifies itself with the Vikramsila Vihar. Historians say that this side of the Vihar (Stupa) of 8th/9th century could have been a seat of learning and pilgrimage up to the eleventh century.
