Balidan Bhawan

A great memorial



Balidan Bhawan is one of the great memorials in Rajouri District of Jammu and Kashmir. It is located to the south-east of Rajouri.

During the Indo-Pakistan war, following independence, the Pakistani forces captured Rajouri in 1947. On 13th April 1948, Indian army liberated the town. Thousands of soldiers and civilians died in this war. A monument called the Balidan Bhawan was erected in the town in memory of the great sacrifice made by the people of the country.

Every year on Diwali and Baisakhi, people from all walk of society gather here to pay homage to the freedom fighters. They take the oath to work for the unity, integrity and solidarity of the country.
