Balasana is a relaxing
asana between two hard asanas. It stretches the hips, thighs, ankles and calms the brain. Balasana eliminates back and neck pain, and reduces stress and fatigue.
Virasana is the preparatory pose of Balasana. As it is the resting pose it can be preceded or followed by any other asanas.
The term 'Balasana' is the combination of two Sanskrit word 'Bala' meaing 'child' and 'asana' meaning 'pose.' Balasana means Child's Pose.
