Balaram




Situated in a scenic forest area, Balaram is an important Hindu pilgrim center in the Banaskantha District of Gujarat. It is around 12 km from Palanpur. Gaumukh Temple with a natural stream flowing from the mouth of a cow is the major attraction. The tomatoes and vegetables here are delicious. Every year, an important religious fair takes place at Balaram. Numerous temples of religious importance are located along the Balaram River. The hill forests of Balaram are home to sloth bear, panther, blue bull and 4 horned antelope. It is also an ideal place for bird-watching.

Balaram-Ambaji Wildlife Sanctuary and Jessore Sloth Bear Sanctuary are the nearby tourist attractions. The ancient Koteshwar Mahadev Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, is situated nearby.

Palanpur Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is the closest airport.
