Balanarasimha Moorthy Temple lies within the sprawling grounds of Tharakkal Wariem in
Palakkad,
Kerala. Tharakkal Wariem is the family house of Tharakkal warriors, who were once the courageous soldiers of Samoothiris of
Kozhikode. They are also among the 'Ambalavasis', a host of Hindu communities who had customary occupations relating to temples and temple rituals.
The presiding deity here is Balanarasimha Moorthy, the fourth embodiment of Lord Vishnu. Anthimahakalan Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is situated nearby. Another notable attraction is the Pambum Kavu, an open air space where the snake idols are worshipped, which adds divinity of this atmosphere.
