Baijnath Parvati Temple

Baijnath Parvati Temple is situated in the valley of the River Gomti, 20 km from Kausani and 70 km from Almora. The temple enshrines a beautifully chiseled, six-foot high marble image of the Goddess Parvati. The temple is noted for its engravings and wood paneling. Besides the main deity, the temple also enshrines idols of eight other deities, including Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesh. Legend is that the Pandavas built a temple dedicated to Parvati at this place. The present temple was, however, built by Katyuri rulers in the 13th century.
