Baghbar is a town located in
Barpeta District of
Assam. It is about 20 km south of
Barpeta. This hilly area was the birth place of ‘Dak Purusha’ of 8th century fame ‘lehidongora’.
The main attraction is a satra located on the Baghbar hill. It was established by Shri Madhab Dev. Another draw of the place is a battle ground, the Hardira Chowk, where the last battle (in 1822) between the Ahom and the Burmese soldiers occurred.
Buses ply frequently from Barpeta to Baghbar, via Satrakanara. Rangapani is about 13 km to the north of Baghbar, while Dalgoma is 15 km to the south. The nearest railhead is Barpeta Road railway station.
