Badagaon is a town in
Baghpat District of
Uttar Pradesh. It is 22 km from
Delhi.
This town is famous for one of the most illustrious Jain temples. Once it was one of the magnificent temples in the region which later was ruined by change of time and natural calamity. During the early 20th century Ailak Anantkirti, a Jain Priest, got an intuition about the existence of this temple. In 1978, the priest initiated research Samvat. As a result of excavations, 10 Jain idols were found, among these 7 were made of stone and 3 were of metal. The stone idols have inscriptions of the 12th and 13th centuries. A new Jain temple was built in the place of the old ruined temple.
