Avittathur Shiva Temple, a 1000-year-old shrine, is located 4 km from
Irinjalakuda, in
Thrissur District,
Kerala. It is devoted to
Lord Shiva. Its outer walls are graced with beautiful paintings depicting scenes from the epics.
A ten-day-festival is held here annually. The major attraction is Thidampu Ezhunnallathu, which is conducted on the ninth day of the festival. The festival concludes with the Aarattu.
