Avathi is located in
Bangalore Rural District of
Karnataka. It is around 40 km north-east of
Bangalore.
Surrounded by rocky hills and lush green fields, Avathi is famous for Gautama Girikshetra, a hillock, and Channakeshava temple built in Vijayanagar style.
Gautama Girikshetra houses Thimmarayaswamy temple, three natural springs and a cave, believed to have once linked Avathi with Tirupati. The hill also provides a panoramic view of the countryside.
