Auroville Earth Institute is located at
Auroville in
Pondicherry. It was established in 1989 by HUDCO (Housing and Urban Development Corporation Limited), Government of India with the objective of promoting research and development of earth based technologies. In addition to training courses, seminars, workshops, manuals and documents, the institute provides various services and consultancy programs.
Auroville Earth Institute forms an international network with CRATerre (The International Centre for Earth Construction), ABC Terra in Brazil and a number of Indian geographic organizations.
Awareness programmes, short and long term training for students of architecture and construction professionals and job oriented training programs are also conducted.
