Asthipura




Asthipura is a site of archeological importance in Kurukshetra District of Haryana. It lies to the west of Thanesar and south of Dhirpur.

Excavations at Asthipura has unearthed cremated bones of people thought to be slain in the Mahabharata war - the great epic battle fought between the Pandavas and Kauravas. A mound - measuring about 700 x 500 feet - with an extensive platform of unbaked bricks, and many remains of walls and fragments of terracotta sculptures were discovered during the excavations.

Nearest airport is Chandigarh Airport. Kurukshetra Junction Railway Station is the closest railway station.
