Asraya is a registered volunteer organization functioning at the Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) in
Thiruvananthapuram. Established in 1996, it is an association of service minded ladies (mainly housewives and retired career women) motivated by concern, sympathy and love for the poor and suffering.
The center helps the cancer patients in every possible way in collaboration with the RCC. It offers physical, financial and moral support to the patients, and also assists them to obtain emergency care, blood transfusion, chemotherapy and other treatment facilities.
Besides, the center offers various other services such as providing reading materials for the patients and bystanders; entertaining child patients in the playroom by telling stories, helping in drawing and painting; and preparing any special food for patients and feeding them.
