Asha Purani Mandir




Asha Purani Mandir is situated in the heart of Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir. This famous shrine was erected by Bhagat Chajju Ram in the year 1949.

The temple is about 30 ft in height and the main entrance is through the north gate. The presiding deity of the temple is Goddess Durga. The idol is of 10 ft long.

Legend has it that the temple is placed at the spot, where the Aash (veins) of the goddess were thrown out by the Sudershan Chakra (the discus) of Lord Vishnu. Thus, it was named as Asha Purani Mandir.

The temple is easily accessible from the Kathua Railway Station.
