Arwa Teej

Arwa Teej is a festival celebrated by the unmarried girls in Chhattisgarh. This festival is observed during the Hindu month of Vaishakh (April-May).

On this day, a small canopy is made from mango twigs. The rituals followed are similar to those in the marriage ceremony. This festival is a sort of preparation for the actual marriage. The people staying nearby are given a feast on this occasion. Songs related to marriage ceremony are sung on this occasion.
