Aravayi Amman Temple is located at Mangalam, in
Tiruchirapalli,
Tamil Nadu. The temple is at a distance of 15 km north-east of
Musiri and 5 km south-west of Thuraiyur. The temple enshrines a 6 ft tall statue of
Buddha. The Poraikizhan deity in a ‘sudai’ made horse is also under worship in this temple. The local people worship Buddha as Chettiyar, may be the reason that their forefathers were Buddhists.
