Ampultun

Positioned at a height of 13,467 ft, Ampultun is an enchanting town nestled among the Himalayan ranges. It is situated in Kargil District of Jammu and Kashmir and is about 198 km from Srinagar. Kangi is within a short distance from here.

Hensikut lies to the north of Ampultun and Lamayuru is to the east. Other places surrounding Ampultun are Chispiyanzan, Longzaling, Tarklak and Kilchu. The nearby attractions are Mulbekh Gompa, Mulbekh Chamba and Futu La.

Ampultun can be easily approached from Kargil, which is to the south-east. Jammu Tawi Railway Station, which is on the Jammu – Pathankot line, serves this place. The nearest airport is at Srinagar.
